You have left your old self behind
RareBird supports your next courageous step forward
You’re in between
You know something has to change. You just can’t see what yet.
A role you’ve held for years no longer fits. A direction that once felt certain has gone adrift.
And in the space where clarity used to live, there’s something harder to name. A strange mix of knowing something new is coming and having no idea what it is.
The pressure to figure it out is exhausting.
What if I make the wrong move? Waste my time? Lose myself even further?
Or worse… what if everything stays exactly the same?
The discomfort you’re feeling doesn’t mean anything is wrong. It’s a sign that something is changing.
A flower in a tight bud. A butterfly in chrysalis. A breath held before it turns to voice.
The Space Between Is Not Empty
What if the in-between wasn’t the problem, but the path?
We’ve been taught that transitions are obstacles to move through as quickly as possible.
Get clarity. Make a decision. Have a plan. Keep moving. The faster you get to the other side, the better.
But that’s not how transformation actually works.
Every major shift in life — a marriage ending, a career changing, a role falling away, children leaving, a body transforming, success arriving hollow — asks the same thing: Who am I now? And that question cannot be answered by thinking harder, deciding faster, or pushing through.
It can only be answered by going deeper.
Those who emerge from life’s biggest transitions with real clarity — not just a new plan, but a renewed sense of self — aren’t the ones who rushed.
They’re the ones who learned to be in the space between long enough for the answer to surface.
The solution isn’t acceleration. It’s depth.
Ancient Wisdom, Modern Transition
Two very different cultures – one Nordic, one Japanese – arrived at the same truth.
In Swedish, mellanrum means “space in between”. Not emptiness. Not a gap to be filled. A space that holds its own meaning, the pause between words that makes a sentence land.

In Japanese philosophy, there is Ma, the concept of negative space. The Japanese understand that silence in music is not the absence of sound but part of the composition itself. That pausing is not stopping.
Both cultures understood what modern Western life has erased: the space between things is not wasted time. It is where meaning is made.
Your transition is not a problem to be solved. It is a mellanrum, and if you can learn to inhabit it rather than escape it, it will give you something no amount of rushing ever could: the chance to hear yourself. Deeply, honestly, without the noise.
Why RareBird Is Different
Introducing RareBird 1:1 Coaching — a coaching journey for those navigating major life transitions, built around the mellanrum: the generative space between who you were and who you’re becoming.
RareBird doesn’t push you toward answers. It creates the conditions for answers to emerge — through deep listening, powerful questions, and a space where you are not managed or directed, but genuinely heard.
This is not coaching that tells you what to do. It’s coaching that holds space for you to hear where your heart is leading you.
I’m Dr. Maarit Kokki,
For 30 years, I worked at the intersection of medical and strategic worlds — from clinical practice to driving policy and leading teams in European Institutions.

Throughout it all, the work I found most meaningful was never politics. It was the people. The conversations. The moments when someone saw themselves differently and decided to take a bold step forward.
I trained at Henley Business School, received my ICF ACC accreditation, and founded RareBird in 2024. But if I’m honest, I’ve been doing this work my whole life. I just finally have a clear framework for it.
RareBird came from something I carry personally: the belief that we all have our own cages — old beliefs, outgrown chapters, identities that no longer fit. And that our heart longs for the moment we pause, see them clearly, and decide to set ourselves free.
My role is not to tell you what to do next. It is to walk beside you through the mellanrum and hold the space steady while you find your own wings.
If that’s where you are, I’d love to talk.
Here’s what RareBird Coaching is
A structured yet deeply personal coaching journey through four phases — Recognition, Generative Space, Emergence, and Integration — moving at the pace your transformation actually requires.
That includes:
- 1:1 sessions with Dr. Maarit Kokki, so that you have a dedicated space where nothing needs to be performed or resolved — just honest, unhurried thinking
- Values and strengths exploration, so that you reconnect with what you already know about yourself but may have lost sight of
- Nervous system support, so that you can slow down enough to access the clarity that pressure and pace have been blocking
- Reflection prompts between sessions, so that the work doesn’t stay in the room — it becomes part of how you move through your days
- Integration support, so that the insights you reach become real decisions, new boundaries, and lasting change
The result is not a five-step plan with deadlines and metrics.
It’s a renewed sense of direction — one that comes from the inside out.
It’s the feeling of your own power returned to you.
It is the moment you stop waiting for life to sort itself out — and start steering it.
On your own terms, in your own voice, with the clarity and courage to make bold choices you’ll be proud of.
How 1:1 Coaching Works
First conversation — We begin by exploring whether we’re the right fit, identifying your starting point, and clarifying what this work together will look like.
A spacious partnership — This is not a quick fix. It is an intentional journey designed to support deep and lasting change, moving at the rhythm your transformation requires.
Session objectives and ongoing alignment — Each session is guided by clear intentions, with space to adapt as your needs evolve. We check in regularly to ensure the work stays attuned to where you are.
Monthly reflection — We pause monthly to review progress and recalibrate, ensuring the direction remains meaningful and alive.
“I feel truly fortunate to have been coached and mentored by Maarit. Her extensive experience at top levels and on an international scale brought an invaluable perspective, and I learned a great deal from her guidance.”
What Becomes Possible
After working together, you’ll…
- Know what you actually want — not what you think you should want, not what everyone expects of you. What you want. The kind of knowing that sits in your chest, not just your head.
- Trust yourself again — you’ll stop replaying decisions for days, stop asking everyone what they think, and feel your own instincts sharpen like a compass finding north.
- Stop feeling like life is happening to you — and start feeling the reins back in your hands, your choices yours to make.
- Feel like yourself again — not the woman who held it all together for everyone else, but the one underneath her. The one with opinions, edges, and fire.
Move into the next chapter with courage — not because the path is perfectly clear, but because you know you can walk it
“Maarit has an excellent sense of understanding people, their emotions, and experiences. Her tremendous experience as well as her deep empathy contribute to a warm and safe environment during every session. I appreciate how the methods she uses during sessions are so well tailored to very different circumstances and topics.”
